Birzeit University Friends Association Holds Annual General Assembly and Elects New Board of Directors
Ramallah, Palestine – August 25, 2025 – The Birzeit University Friends Association convened its 2024 Annual Ordinary General Assembly meeting on Monday at the Experts Forum Hall in Batn Al-Hawa, Ramallah, with the participation of General Assembly members and the Board of Directors.
The meeting opened with remarks by Board Chair Nisreen Hidmi Masrouji, who underscored the Association’s critical role in supporting university students and strengthening youth capacity for innovation and entrepreneurship. She emphasized the importance of advancing sustainability through diversified initiatives that enable the Association to adapt to surrounding challenges, while expanding strategic partnerships with local and regional institutions.
Masrouji affirmed that the Association remains steadfast in its mission despite the profound challenges facing the Palestinian people, including the ongoing war on Gaza and severe economic hardship. “Retreat is not an option,” she stated, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to resilience and continued impact.
Dr. Mohammad Masrouji, Honorary President and Founder of the Association, addressed attendees and commended the Board’s accomplishments over the past year. He stressed the importance of unity and collective responsibility in confronting unprecedented national challenges.
During the session, the 2024 Administrative Report was presented and approved by the General Assembly, followed by the ratification of the Financial Auditor’s Report. The Assembly formally discharged the Board of Directors for the 2024 fiscal year and approved the appointment of Nader Mohammad Dajani’s auditing office as the external auditor for 2025.
Elections for the 2025–2028 Board of Directors were conducted under the supervision of an appointed electoral committee. Nine candidates ran for nine available seats, and the new Board was elected by acclamation. The newly elected Board is composed as follows:

- Hassan Qassem – Vice Chair
- Ahmad Abu Laban (Municipality of Ramallah) – Secretary
- Khamees Adkeedek (Arcomed Medical Supplies Company) – Treasurer
- Eng. Awadallah Awad (Municipality of Birzeit) – Member
- Suhaib Al-Sharif – Member
- Mohammad Shawer (Bank of Jerusalem) – Member
- Raja Hamael (Municipality of Al-Bireh) – Member
- Jawad Obeidat – Member
The meeting concluded with expressions of appreciation to Board members, the administrative team, and the General Assembly for their ongoing dedication and support.
The annual gathering reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and community engagement, reinforcing its continued efforts to support Birzeit University students and contribute meaningfully to Palestinian society.
